SPECIAL SKILLS

We always need enthusiastic volunteers who would enjoy (amongst other things!):

EQUIPMENT

We can organise tax deductibility for gifts of equipment from Australian donors - US donors - we're working on it. (But, hey, it's for protecting the environment!) (US Donations of money will be tax deductible through the Tides Foundation).

SOLAR/ALTERNATIVE TECHNOLOGY
Manufacturers - here's where we can help you!

As we live in one of the most demanding environments for technological equipment that one might imagine (fungus, insects, humidity mostly in the high of 80%) - poorly designed and unprotected equipment lasts a very short time here. We would be delighted to act as a test site for your product - we've already investigated the effects of flying fox splats on roofing paint (Don't laugh - people in coastal Queensland will leave their cars under mango trees and complain about the big areas of lifted paint - and of course hate the flying foxes for it). We have a well-equipped electronics laboratory here, so we can monitor most things.

OTHER STUFF

Textbooks - reasonably recent texts in biology, population biology, ecology, general zoology, and the like.

Back issues of journals (or even an (individual) subscription)- specifically:

Access to Current Contents Data Base (really, we won't use much of it).

We also would appreciate donations of:

The BAT HOUSE Environmental Center, right on the road at Cape Tribulation, gets over 10,000 visitors a year - (the Daintree area gets over 400,000!) so anything at the Bat House or Research Station has the potential to be seen by these visitors (but the place is useless for wind or hydro).
